Drawing is an integral part of my artistic practice, often performed on a large scale, it facilitates the creation of dramatic three dimensional form within a flat space. Through magnification and abstraction of natural forms my drawing practice endeavours to create a physicality within the surface, one that echoes both familiar and unfamiliar structures found in nature.
By creating large studies of these overlooked and disregarded natural forms I hope to transcend the objectivity of nature and to regain a fascination and respect for our natural world. Both my drawing and sculptural practice are investigations into the timeless and formless intelligence within nature, the ghost in the machine. No matter what is removed there will always be another layer of complexity waiting to be revealed.
